Moseley PCL-606 STL Transmitter Fix, cheaper

I got in a Moseley PCL 606 STL transmitter that was way low on power. Sometimes this is caused by the SL560C RF amplifier losing its ability to amplify. It is much like the degradation of the MAR-4 in a Moseley 6000 series transmitter. The problem here is that the TO99 can version of the SL560C sells for about $70 and you can’t be sure what you get isn’t a fake. The 8 pin DIP package of the same thing is about $9. If only there was a way to make that fit. There is. I found a guy in Texas that makes a 8pin DIP to TO99 adapter for about $3 plus shipping.

I am happy to say that the replacement worked and it cost a lot less than the can.

TO99 can case of the SL560C Expensive
8 Pin DIP to TO99 Can adapter

You can get the adapter at http://cimarrontechnology.com He has others too.

The adapter is pin for pin. The notch points at pin 8
I stuck on a little heatsink. It also serves as a wedge to make sure the IC doesn’t fall out

I hope this helps someone if they ever have to fix a PCL 606C.
